Fans of Manchester United and Tottenham will be charged a small fortune for their journey to Bilbao.
The Europa League final takes place in the Spanish city on Wednesday 21 May, with both Premier League clubs now in a strong position to make the final after big victories over Athletic Bilbao and Bodo/Glimt respectively.
With a £ 100 million winner-tops-all English final that is now expected to take place later this month, fans will be forced to contend with Sky-Racking prizes.
Many places to stay in the city center have already been booked and very few remain less than £ 1,000 per night, but the prices to fly to the city, and back, have also gone through the roof in the first place.
According to Skyscanner, direct flights to Bilbao Airport from the United Kingdom are already fully sold out, with all flights that require a stop in at least one other airport. And many return trips still cost to £ 800 and rise.
So Sunsport did the digging for you and found some more affordable alternative routes to the Estadio de San Mames …
Ferry – Portsmouth to Bilbao
The simplest and, on paper, the most relaxing option for fans is to travel to the region by boat.
Like a small geography renewal, Bilbao rests as a city on the north of Spain.
And fans who are desperately looking for Spain can also enjoy a 32 -hour cruise from Portsmouth to Bilbao.
Usually visited by Caravaners after a quiet journey – this trip will probably be everything, but when 1,015 football fans climb on board and get off the boat on the beers in the 'Plaza Mayor' bar.
It is his own Dave Courtnadge of a trip that will take Sunsport if he hopes to see his beloved Red Devils lift the trophy.
Join him on the Brittany Ferries Cruise, leaves on Sunday at 10 p.m. and arrive on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
Prices start at £ 150 in one way. Plus £ 11 if you want a chair, or £ 125 for a four -man cabin.
The only drawback is that the return trip is only on Saturday.
An alternative route would be to go from Portsmouth or Plymouth to the neighboring port of Santander, who is then about a three -hour train journey or an hour and 16 minutes drive to Bilbao.
The Portsmouth trip starts on 19 May at 9.30 pm before it arrives at 8 am on the day with a cost of £ 190 one -way.
The Plymouth trip costs marginally less for £ 150 and leaves at 4.45 pm on Sunday to arrive in Spain on Monday.
Ferry to Calais – Train to Bordeaux – Bilbao coach
One of the fastest ways to go to mainland Europe would go to Calais, with a ferry that cost around £ 229 there, according to Ferrysavers.
Once in Calais you can then travel by train to Bordeaux in the south of France, which, according to the train, can cost around £ 90 and last about 6 hours in the day.
The last part of the trip would then see that you have to bring a Bordeaux coach to Bilbao, which, about five hours, takes only £ 8.99 at the time of writing.
Eurotunnel, trains and driving
At the time of writing the Eurostar the day before the game starts at £ 64, while on the day the minimum costs are £ 87.
That is the first part of the journey, with the journey that Paris ever leaves between seven and 13 hours everywhere in Paris.
But if you feel like an extensive ride, you can take a ferry from Dover to Calais and then drive a car all the way down for a trip that takes more than 11 hours to complete according to Rome2rio.
Flights to Spanish cities
As it looks now, there are direct flights from Manchester to Bilbao or adjacent cities of Sevilla and Zaragoza, although more flights can be attracted.
However, there are a few flights from London directly to Seville, with the cheapest of these flights that come out about £ 108 by flying out on Tuesday evening and returning on Thursday.
And there is some luck for travelers from Manchester if they are willing to fly to Barcelona.
Barcelona flights will fly back at least £ 96 the day before and £ 89 in the day … while Madrid flights start at £ 516 the day before and £ 346 in the day.
London flights to Barcelona currently cost from £ 49 the day before and £ 67 in the day.
While the return flights to Zaragoza from London from London have arrived at only £ 140 – with a return bus of £ 35 in total to only £ 175.
From Manchester the same journey reed is done for around £ 250.
Flight exchanges
Most other flights to Bilbao include a kind of change on the road that adds a crazy amount of time to the journey, often because of the stops that have long waiting times.
According to Omio, an option is to fly from Manchester to Paris to Paris the day before and then to Bilbao, which costs £ 307 in one way.
As an alternative a flight transfer from London to Madrid and then Bilbao will put a fan back in one way at least £ 262 and take more than 13 hours to complete when starting on Tuesday evening.
Elsewhere on Skyscanner, the cheapest flights to Manchester are currently from £ 188, while the best recommended flight currently takes £ 566 for a 4 -hour trip with a change in Amsterdam.
London flights cost £ 263 for the cheapest, with those of almost 10 hours, while the recommended best flights costs around £ 514 for a 4 and a half hour flight in Madrid.
Bus routes – London to Bilbao
One of the longest but cheapest journeys that a fan can make possible during the trip includes an estimated 22 -hour trip by bus that only costs £ 72.
This Flixbus trip starts in Whitehall/Trafalgar and first goes to Victoria before he goes to Paris.
Paris then makes way for a plus trip of 11 hours on his way to Bilbao for just £ 45.
