Athletic Club, Real Mallorca, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are the four participating teams in Jeddah this year.
The Spanish Super Cup takes center stage this week, while the 'Final Four' format takes place this year in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).
The competition consists of last season's winners and runners-up (Real Madrid and FC Barcelona), along with the 2024 Spanish Cup winners and defeated finalists (Athletic Club and Real Mallorca).
There is a major title at stake, along with a nice financial windfall, with each edition of the new format in Saudi Arabia generating attention for the prize money on the table.
In the first 'Final Four' format in 2020, the economic distribution was based on both sporting criteria (titles won) and the cachet of the teams participating in the tournament.
When calculating this compensation, television rights and television viewers are taken into account. In the first edition, Valencia complained after they saw a remarkable difference in income between the 2.5 million euros the club received and the 6 million that Barcelona had in their pocket or the almost twelve million that Real Madrid ultimately earned from winning the Super Cup.
Super Cup cash bonus
For the 2025 Super Cup, Saudi Arabia will pay (as for previous editions) 40 million euros to the Spanish FA, which in turn will pay out the prize money to the participants.
50% of the Saudi money goes directly to the RFEF (Spanish FA) coffers, while the remaining 20 are distributed among the four teams. In this edition, Real Madrid and Barcelona will each earn around six million euros, three million of which will go to Athletic, while Real Mallorca will collect 1.5 million euros.
These amounts are the participating starting amounts, with both finalists earning an additional million, while the winners will pocket a further two million.
