Tonight Luis Enrique's PSG and Thomas Frank's Tottenham will get off the Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy, to do it for the UEFA Super Cup.
It is a trophy that has won neither club – PSG has only received the 1996 final to lose Juventus, while Spurs has two European titles in their Honors list: the Old European Cup Winners' Cup (won in 1992), to which they added the Europa League in May.
So a new name will be etched on the trophy later tonight – the winners will be the 26th club that has lifted it.
UEFA Super Cup price money
Both PSG and Spurs will collect € 4 million ($ 4.41 million) to appear, with the team that the victory is rewarded on the night with an extra € 1 million ($ 1.1 million). € 5 million ($ 5.51 million) is the monetary prize for winning tonight.
Although both clubs have a stimulus to add the Super Cup to their silver collections, the Grand Prix qualifies for the next edition of the Champions League, which they have already done – PSG was crowned European champions and Spurs in May book their place as Europe Cup winners.
It may sound like pocket change at first sight, but simply qualifies for the Champions League that each team guarantees a basic benefit of around $ 20.3 million. Surprise that about the eight games in the new group stage in the competition style, and every competition is worth around $ 2.5 million. And if a team wins? That is an extra $ 2.3 million per victory – making Champions League wins some of the most lucrative in club football.
PSG: More than 100 million euros for their first Champions League title
Paris Saint-Germain finally achieved his very first Champions League title and defeated Inter Milan 5-0 in Allianz Arena in Munich in May. The financial windfall is just as historical. The French club took purely more than $ 160 million from its performance in the tournament. That figure does not even contain ticket sales or extra commercial income.
The breakdown reveals a record -breaking Trek, fully tailored to the new financial format of UEFA:
