According to reports, Joshua Zirkzee will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.
Nederlands International was in the hands of Newcastle last weekend in the second half of United thrashing after he had stopped.
And the Dutchman would be in “danger” to miss the rest of the season with the ailment.
According to the BBC, that claims that the 23-year-old “a few weeks” is on the sidelines.
They also claim that there is “only doubt” whether the former Bologna man will be able to play this campaign again because of the “Ernst” of the Hamstringstam.
United Gaffer Ruben Amorim is expected to give clarity on Wednesday about the fitness of the attacker prior to the second stage of their Europa League quarterfinals draw with Lyon.
The Portuguese boss, who replaced Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford Helm in November, was not optimistic about the chances of Zirkzee to play against the French giants on Thursday.
He said: “We had to make rotation because we try to recover within two days of each game.
“But try to win this game too.
“Josh, I think he will be out for some games. So let's concentrate on the next [against Lyon]. “
Zirkzee, which has seven goals and two assists this season, was one of the few clear sparks of United in their 4-1 loss for Carabao Cup holders Newcastle.
And he was just as impressive in the 2-2 draw against Lyon last Thursday, giving the Red Devils the lead in the 88th minute.
The Zirkzee injury came at the worst moment for Amorim, who now has only one eligible striker for Lyon's visit.
Rasmus Hojlund will now lead the line for United in their Do-Or-Die collision with the Ligue 1 Giants.
And the 22-year-old will probably have to improve his seasonal distance of eight goals if the Red Devils have a chance to make the semi-final.
