Andreas Christensen has had a few very tough months. Days after playing against Valencia in Barcelona's season opener, he was forced to undergo surgery on a troublesome Achilles tendon injury. He recently had to undergo surgery again because there were still complications, so his recovery date was postponed to January.
Speaking to BarcaOne (via MD), Christensen opened up about his recovery, which he believes will end sooner or later.
“It's been a long time and that's why I decided to talk. I feel good, we have passed a turning point. We performed a mini-surgery. It is so small that it can be considered a cleansing. It shouldn't affect my return time. If you do that, it will actually speed up. I don't want to put pressure on myself, but I feel like we're going in the right direction.
“I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We work hard, we do many treatments to regain confidence and feel comfortable and confident with different movements. I feel like I'm on the right track to get back to 100%.”
Christensen has lost prominence at Barcelona due to his injury woes, and there is heavy speculation that he will be sold next summer. For now, he is solely focusing on getting fit again as quickly as possible.
