Vitor Roque's start in Spain has not been easy, but since joining Real Betis on loan this summer, things have started to look up. He struggled for opportunities during his first six months as a Barcelona player, eventually leading to his move to Los Verdiblancos for the 2024–25 season.
Speaking to Betis' official media outlets, Roque talked about the experience of his first arrival at Barcelona in January. He was initially expected to stay at Athletico Paranaense until the summer, but following Gavi's cruciate ligament injury, the 19-year-old striker was brought in at the first possible opportunity.
“Yes (the entry into Barcelona was rushed). The truth is that I was in Brazil and I didn't know whether I would come or not. I found out about a week before that I was coming to Spain, I was on holiday, I didn't know. And when I arrived, I had few opportunities, I also had no time to adapt. The truth is that I had some bad moments there, but they serve as a learning experience. I am very happy to have been to Barcelona. The things I learned there help me today and I am very happy.”
Things are looking up for Roque, and joining Betis has proven to be a good move. Barcelona will be hoping they take advantage of this, and he could still become Robert Lewandowski's successor.
