Zlatan Ibrahimovic says that Santiago Gimenez gets “stronger step by step” at AC Milan, after scoring the winner against Verona with his first Serie A -start.
The former Feyenoord -Spits, which came to the Rossoneri earlier this month, went home the only goal of the game in the 75th minute in San Siro.
That scored two goals in two league games for Gimenez, who was also the goal of the bank in last week's 2-0 victory at Empoli – and became the first Mexican player to score for Milan in the Seran A.
He joined Andriy Shevchenko and Christian Pulisic as one of the three players to score in each of their first two league matches for the Rossoneri during the three points for a win era.
“I expected things to go well, because Gimenez is someone who likes to score goals and this is a team that gets the ball in the box,” said Ibrahimovic. “You just have to be ready to meet and put it in the net.
“It is not easy to come to Italian football as a foreign player, but we help him to establish and become stronger step by step.
“This is a very important victory. It is true that we have scored only one goal, but we dominated.”
