‘I have an incredible team’ says Barca boss Flick

Hansi Flick praised his “incredible” Barcelona team after their 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Supercopa de España.

All of Barcelona's goals came in a remarkable first half in Riyadh on Sunday, as the Blaugrana took a 5-1 lead after Kylian Mbappe's earlier opener against Madrid.

Barca were reduced to ten men when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny saw red in the 56th minute, although a Rodrygo goal was all Madrid could manage in response.

The win marked Barca's 15th Supercopa title and Flick's first trophy since taking over.

“I am very proud of the team, the staff, the club, the fans, everyone who supports Barça,” said Flick.

“I am proud to lead such an incredible team.

“After Szczesny was sent off, it wasn't easy for anyone. We, the coaches, had a little discussion and I thank them all because in the end we made the right decision.

2 – @FCBarcelona has scored at least four goals in consecutive 'Clásicos' for the first time in history in all competitions (4-0 in LaLiga and 1-4 today) and it is the first time this has happened in this encounter since @realmadrid got it in 1963 (5-1 and 4-0). “We are a team. You saw that after the win, but it always shows. We stay together and our goal is to learn from every match.

“At big clubs the goal is to win titles. And that is what we are working towards. We are very happy and proud, but we have to keep showing that we are the best in every match.”

Madrid had more shots (19 to 14) than Barcelona, but the Blaugrana were much more clinical, with Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Alejandro Balde on target.

“Real made a lot of mistakes and we knew how to use them to take control of the match,” said Flick.
