Legend Wayne Rooney from Manchester United said he still has faith in striker Rasmus Hojlund and Hoop found in his replacement version in the draw of the Red Devils with Arsenal.
After a bad first half, United took the lead just before the break with an excellent Bruno Fernandes-free staircase only for the Declan Rice of Arsenal to resemble 74 minutes.
Shortly after the Leveler, Hojlund was introduced in the match and could have won it for his team, after having wasted two glorious chances for the goal.
The most striking of those came after Mikel Merino van Owner was pinched on the edge of his box, but with the aim of his grace, Hojlund was tackled by Rice when he was about to pull the tractor.
Hojlund is still struggling to adapt to life in Old Trafford and this season only scores two goals in 23 Premier League performances, but has found a form in the Europa League, five times in nine trips in the competition this period.
Indeed, in the Premier League this campaign, Hojlund does indeed perform his expected goals (XG) with 0.71, while the Danish striker has also missed three big chances.
Hojlund has not found the back of the net since he scored a brace in the 2-1 victory of United over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League, although Rooney, the leading goal scorer of the Red Devils, said there is a reason for optimism.
“There was one chance where his shot was blocked after he had shown a fantastic movement to reach the nearby post,” Rooney told the match of the BBC of the day 2.
“He goes once, he checks back, goes back, came across Gabriel and got good contact with his shot, so he did everything right. It is just a great block that stops the goal.
“The person who, however, will be emphasized is the one where Rice returns and tackles him after the ball breaks in the area for him, and that was purely a lack of trust.
“You see Hojlund taking a touch and then he looks up to see where he wants to place his chance if he doesn't have time for that.
“That is the kind of scenario where you as a striker goals, you don't even have to look up – you know where the goal is.
“That really showed how much he needs a goal.”
Rooney also suggested that Ruben Amorim and his teammates did not play at his strengths, which contributed to his struggles for the goal.
“I have faith in him. He is a good player who works hard, which is really important. He also needs that little luck, but as soon as he gets a break, more goals will follow.
“As a striker for Manchester United, if you don't score goals, there is a lot of pressure and many people wonder if you can do it for United.
“The best for Hojlund to simplify it. Making runs in the penalty box is just as easy.
“If you have no confidence, you must ensure that you enter the penalty area and place yourself in a position where you can score.
“We are still waiting to see Hojlund find his feet for United, but it is important to point out that the entire team has not been at their best.
“I feel for him from that point of view because, nine out of 10 times, attackers trust their teammates for service.
“United did not play well or created enough opportunities, so he has not been dominating in a team, sliding sliding balls behind the defense or put balls in the box.”
