Javier Mascherano does not agree with the statement of Cristiano Ronaldo that he is the most complete player in history and says he has his “own thoughts” about this.
Ronaldo, who turned 40 on Wednesday, made the daring claim in an interview with El Chiringuito earlier this week, while recognizing that some people have preferences for names such as Lionel Messi, Pele or Diego Maradona.
The captain of Portugal, however, also stated that “numbers don't lie” and that he “can do it all in football”.
Ronaldo is the leading goal scorer of all time in the men's competition, which scored 923 times, while he also has the record for the most international goals, which scores 135 times for Portugal.
In general, during his career, he has on average just over 40 goals a year.
Ronaldo may usually be compared to large rival Messi, who has scored 850 career goals, in debates about the greatest football player of all time, after their respective spells in Real Madrid and Barcelona.
And Mascherano, the former Argentinian teammate of Messi and the current head coach of Inter Miami, has a different opinion than Ronaldo, although he did not share who he believed was the best.
“I have a lot of respect for Cristiano and I don't have to analyze his opinions,” Mascherano said a press conference.
“It's what he thinks. But I have my own thoughts [on the best player ever] And it isn't. “
