The Anfield believers were quickly won by Arne Slot, who seems to have a big fan in Gary Lineker.
The Dutch craftsman was confronted with a monumental task in filling the shoes of Jurgen Klopp in Liverpool, but so far he flourished on Merseyside. Liverpool is on top of the Premier League and has reached the last 16 of the Champions League at the top of their class.
Moreover, they are still looking for a four -time while they compete for both the FA Cup and the League Cup. However, they will have to destroy a small shortage against Tottenham in the latter to book their place at Wembley.
Lineker, 64, recently visited Liverpool's Kirkby Training Ground to get a taste of lock behind the scenes. And he gave five aspects of Slot's methods that impressed him most in the latest episode of 'The rest is Football' podcast (via the Liverpool Echo).
“Insurance, trust,” he told Co-Analytic Micah Richards. “You can see how organized he is, how he understands the game very well.”
A self -assured approach and a sharp tactical mind can make comparisons with Klopp itself. Lineker also emphasized that the ex-Feyenoord chef houses an intense passion for football and describes him as someone who “eats, sleeps and lives”.
However, he attributed a certain characteristic to slot that could distinguish a difference between him and his predecessor. He continued: “The calmness too, I found it interesting. Because there are many coaches, they are rather energetic … you don't see that from him.”
The last two points that Lineker noticed about Slot's term of office in Liverpool relates more to the atmosphere he has cultivated since taking over at Anfield. This was reflected in the attitude of his players and underlined his impact in a short period.
“I tell you what struck me the most to be on the training field, however, was the culture and the way everyone was,” Lineker added. “And you would expect this if things go really well, but there was a real kind of pleasure about the place. A little comrade. And all players came down to say hello – or most of them.”
Richard's joked that his colleague might only have seen 'those you have not joined'. And although Slot may not have much to repair, given the solid foundations that his predecessor leaves behind, he still earns his praise after what a wonderful first six months has been in the track.
He even quoted the Dutchman and said that it was “one of the big testaments” at Klopp, which shows that he is aware of the contribution of the man who came for him.
