Marcus Rashford said he just wants to play football after he has got on Bumleen at Aston Villa, with Manchester United Great Gary Neville who tipped the attacker to succeed with his new club.
On Sunday, Villa Rashford signed on loan for the rest of 2024-25. It is said that they will pay 75% of their wages and have an option to buy it at the end of the season for £ 40 million.
The move comes after Rashford was frozen by the United boss Ruben Amorim, who recently said that he would rather play 63-year-old goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital than Rashford.
Rashford is not visible to United since he was a replacement in a 2-1 Europa League victory at Viktoria Plzen on December 12. His last league outing came five days earlier in a defeat against Nottingham Forest.
Rashford has four goals this season in 15 league games, after he has scored the last campaign seven times after reaching a career-best 17 goals in 2022-23.
He will now look to recapture his best shape with the villa of Unai Emery, who needed reinforcements after he had seen Ollie Watkins who were injured in the 2-0 loss of Saturday at Wolves.
“I want to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for the fact that this loan has made a deal happened,” Rashford said in an interview with Villa's media channels.
“I was lucky that a few clubs approached me, but Aston Villa was an easy decision. I really admire the way Aston Villa played this season and the manager's ambitions.
“I just want to play football and I am excited to start. I wish everyone at Manchester United the very best for the rest of the season.”
Amorim has repeatedly questioned Rashford's attitude since he came to United at United in November, and former Red Devils Right-back Neville believes that the attacker is needed to leave.
Neville feels that working with Emery can bring a new direction to the game of Rashford, but warned the 27-year-old he cannot afford to fail this movement.
“He had to leave the club. He has been battered by his manager in recent weeks,” said Neville Sky Sports on Sunday, shortly before the deal was completed.
“That is the only person who is important in football, your coach and I think some statements by Ruben Amorim against Marcus Rashford have been brutal and emphatically say that he does not want him.
“There are a number of things that are to his advantage in Villa. He is currently going to a much better team, he goes to a coach who is in a world class, which is a real chance for him.
“The other is the playing style. How villa plays, I think, Rashford could also fit. Maybe the spotlights will not be completely on him as it was in Manchester United, but there will certainly still be a lot of attention.
“It absolutely sounds like what he needs. The last thing I would think that Rashford needs right now is someone who says:” Go and enjoy yourself. ”
“He must have some discipline in his game, he must be coached and he must ensure that the team knows exactly what it is that they want from him.”
The Villa debut of Rashford could come across Tottenham on Sunday in the FA Cup, where the Emery team also in the hope of signing Paris Saint-Germain Marco Asensio for that time.
