‘I might get flatlined’… Jake Paul looks ahead to ‘insane fight’ with pound-for-pound superstar following Mike Tyson win

Jake Paul is looking to take a colossal step forward in the competition after his decisive victory over boxing legend Mike Tyson.

Boxing fans continue to criticize Jake Paul for his questionable strength in his schedule, but his latest call-up could turn heads after beating the legendary Mike Tyson.

After a slow start against Tyson in the opening minutes, Paul scored another lopsided unanimous decision victory over the 58-year-old boxing legend. Granted, Paul took it easy on Tyson as the fight progressed, claiming he didn't want to take Tyson out after he had done enough damage.

Despite Tyson's age and physical abilities, Paul scored perhaps the biggest win of his young boxing career in Dallas. He has recovered well since suffering his first career loss to Tommy Fury last year.

Paul's boxing career has seen a slow but gradual increase in opponent difficulty since he first put on the gloves. After knocking out a string of MMA legends, including Nate Diaz, Paul seems very focused on taking on top boxing competition.

Paul didn't hesitate to invite one of the sport's all-time greats, and arguably the best current boxer in the world, after his latest win. He wants Canelo Alvarez next, despite admitting Alvarez probably won't accept a fight with him.

But the challenges of facing an opponent of Alvarez's caliber are worth it for Paul.

Jake Paul wants Canelo Alvarez after extending boxing win streak against Mike Tyson

On a recent episode of his BS with Jake Paul podcast, Paul acknowledged that he may be biting off more than he can chew in a potential boxing match with Alvarez.

“Generally speaking, everyone's biggest criticism is, 'Fight a professional! Fight someone your age!'” Paul said. “So when I said Canelo is the person, everyone hates that. Wouldn't the best chance to see me lose be to play Canelo?

“People won't be happy with my career until I'm bloody flat… one of the best I've ever done, a legend, pound for pound amazing… yeah, it's going to be a crazy fight. It's going to be difficult. I might get my shot and fall flat. But let's fucking find out!”

Paul will have to wait at least a few weeks before booking another fight after he and Tyson were suspended for 24 days. This means Paul may not return to the ring until the first quarter of 2025 at the earliest.

Jake Paul's high-stakes callout goes unanswered after beating Mike Tyson

At the time of writing, Alvarez has not responded to Paul's post-fight calls as he considers his next boxing booking. He hasn't fought since beating Edgar Berlanga in September.

Despite Alvarez's cold shoulder, the boxing superstar has expressed his openness to making the Paul fight happen. He has also hinted at a possible crossover fight with UFC superstar Conor McGregor in recent years.

Paul could potentially book a rematch with Fury, the only boxer to beat him, amid the uncertainty of the Alvarez showdown. After losing to Fury, Paul activated his contractual rematch clause, although it is uncertain when the run-back will materialize.

Paul has won five fights in a row since falling to Fury, including recent victories over Ryan Bourland and Andre August. He defeated former UFC fan favorite Diaz by unanimous decision in their 2023 matchup.

Paul has lofty goals for the rest of his boxing career as he looks forward to what's next in the hours after beating Tyson. Love him or hate him, fight fans can't question the ambitions of one of combat sports' most polarizing figures.
