Stan Collymore has revealed that he would have made the chance to join Real Madrid if he was in the shoes of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Since he was broken into in the first Liverpool team in 2016 under Jurgen Klopp, Alexander-Arnold has been a mainstay of the starting line-up. With his contract that expires at the end of June and no new agreement has been signed, there is no new agreement that the 26-year-old English International could make a free transfer to Real Madrid this summer.
Although many fans would be disappointed to see one of the most valuable players of the club leave, Collymore, a former Liverpool player, has taken a pragmatic picture of the situation. The 54-year-old told the Liverpool Echo: “I think Trent is unique because players always make movements, but go from the club, from the city in which you are and that you support to Real Madrid comes over as strange.
“If he wins the double this year, Champions League and Premier League Double, I know that Liverpool supporters would leave, but there is a finite amount of time you play football. Almost every player on the planet, if you are a child – And even when I was a young person and other competitions such as La Liga of Serie A were nowhere near as much marked as they are now – you grew up and you wanted to play for Liverpool or you wanted to play for Man United, or you Wanted to play for forest or villa or what do you have.
“But even when a child grew up in the 1980s, one club that was talked about as if it was just this kind of magic thing that you didn't see at all, unless it was a European cup final or a European final, was real Madrid.
“The stadium is perhaps one of the best, if not the best in the world, you play at any time with many of the best players in the world. Their history in the Champions League is great, it is the capital of a great country With many benefits of life there.
“So I actually understand every player of a club in Europe who wants to go to Real Madrid, unless you naturally played for Barcelona. And that happened in recent years, so … for me, if Trent would go, and he would would win more trophies, I would not mislead him. “
Collymore started his Liverpool career in 1995 and enjoyed a period of two years at Anfield, with 35 goals and making 16 assists before he continued with his Jongshood team Aston Villa. When he wondered if he would have left his beloved club to play for Real Madrid, the star confessed: “Oh absolutely. I would have gone from Liverpool to Real Madrid, Villa to Real Madrid.
“It is just one of those clubs that it is a unique opportunity to play for a club that smells of history, tradition and success. So yes, I don't think a player … unless you played for Barcelona and was Lionel and Lionel was Messi, I think every player at one point, if you said, “Would you like to play for Real Madrid?” The answer would be yes.
This advice follows after Real Madrid had had an offer around £ 20 million for Alexander-Arnold at the start of the new year, without eventually flourishing the deal. Los Blancos is still looking for an aging Dani Carvajal, who has been on the side since the start of the season because of an ACL injury, and they are free to arrange a pre-contract with Alexander-Arnold considering the Duration of the rest are current deal.
