Chelsea was one of the clubs in the race to sign Benjamin Sesko last summer, and a message from the then blues player Djordje Petrovic has surfaced while Manchester United was informed of the striker
Benjamin Sesko is reportedly about the radar of Manchester United, and former Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has revealed what kind of player Ruben Amorim's Kant would recruit. In addition to Ollie Watkins, the 22-year-old RB Leipzig striker is considered in the last month of the summer transfer window.
It is assumed that Watkins would be open to a move to United, while the Sesko agent, Elvis Basanovic, held communication lines with the Red Devils since discussing a possible movement last year.
The Slovenian international is a hot topic in the transfer market since the end of the 2024/25 season. Arsenal seemed enthusiastic about Sesko, but instead decided to pursue Viktor Gyokeres, causing a £ 63.7 million deal for the Swede last week.
Now it seems that United and Newcastle compete for the signature of Sesko, where both Amorim and Eddie Howe want to strengthen their attacking options. Various reports, however, suggest that the striker is more inclined to a move to Old Trafford.
This is not the first time that Sesko has been linked to the Premier League. After he had rejected United three years ago to become a member of Leipzig, he was almost signed by Arsenal and Chelsea, the Manchester Event News reports.
Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petrovic had a great praise for Sesko last year before Euro 2024, which stated that he needed “everything” to succeed in the Premier League.
Before the tournament, Petrovic Sesko had seen several times and the blues assured that he would be a successful success in the English top flight.
“I know [about the rumours linking him with Chelsea] And followed him, “Petrovic, who is now playing for Bournemouth, Nogomania told.” He has a good half season, he is in a large score form. I read that he scored in his last seven games in a row. He seems to have received a strong momentum for the euros.
“He is an attacker who needs everything a modern player needs. He is long, strong, fast and intelligent. I have watched some of his matches. Of course he can play in the Premier League. Absolutely! He has a great potential, and he has proven it successfully.”
According to Sky in Germany, the United Board has had contact with Sesko and it is possible about a possible transfer to Old Trafford. If Sesko touches in Manchester, manager Amorim has made it clear to the Kristal what exactly he expects from new recruits and says: “They have to come here.
“I think what we can do with the fans is that we want players to have proven it [themselves] Already. Sometimes you have a player with a lot of potential, you have to be aware of it, but all the players coming to it, we have to know the player.
“We have to talk to the player, we have to explain the project. And then a very important thing they want to come here is the most important point.
“If we can find someone who can help the team during the market and everything that can have boxes with them, we will do it. If not, we can't do it because it is an important time in our club.”
