Liverpool -legend Jamie Carragher has announced that he had a moment of madness that ended with him who kicked a door after the Reds once missed a clean cloth record.
The defensive icon was fanatic about closing rivals during his time on the field and opened himself on an occasion when a last-minute blunder by teammate Harry Kewell sent him anger.
Carragher's dream pursued a club record for clean sheets in the 2006/2007 season and was crushed during a match against Portsmouth.
A late goal admitted by the men of Rafa Benitez meant that the record heap of Liverpool had been poured and Carragher lost its cool.
“I can still remember for times making me feel worse when it was 4-0 [and we conceded] Then when it was 2-0, “he said on the stick to football podcast, sponsored by Sky Bet.
“I always remember Portsmouth – it was our last game of the season, and we went for most clean sheets, we were at 33 clean sheets for the season.
“We defeated Portsmouth 3-0, but then Harry Kewell will not go with the full-back on the overlapp [the dressing room] and kicked the door, I put my foot straight through the door when we arrived in the dressing room, and I was just like [head gone]I was like crazy – we didn't get a clean leaf. “
Carragher has shared that the frustration about missing a clean record record in 2007 was cut in the last heartache of the Champions League in Athens in Athens. The Reds were unable to win the victory against AC Milan, reminiscent of their triumph two years earlier to secure their fifth European title.
“The next game we had against Charlton, Rafa Benítez rested everyone because of the final of the Champions League, we did not get 2-2 at home. We no longer got the clean magazine and then we don't win the Champions League final, and we don't get the record-it all returns to that Portsmouth match.”
Notorious for his determination was Carragher's search for defensive perfection not only limited to outside the field. A particularly notorious moment took place in May 2009 when Liverpool, who was still smart about losing the Premier League title to Manchester United, opposite West Bromwich Albion.
In an attempt to maintain a shutout, Carragher teammate Alvaro Arbeloa Mid game pushed a movement that required the intervention of fellow players to make the situation harmless. Carragher, now known for his analysis by Sky Sports, later admitted that he apologized for the fight at Arbeloa.
“I had it a few times where I had to apologize for the dressing room. I almost got into a fight with my own teammate.
“He (Arbeloa) went too much, I needed him to sit. So we almost came on the field on the field and after the game you think” It was a bit much that, “but I tried to apologize after the game and he (Arbeloa) threw his hands, so you don't lose your head again?”
Carragher collected 737 performances for Liverpool and played an important role in holding 195 clean sheets in the Premier League. He also helped to keep 20 in the Champions League.
