Real Madrid will endeavor to destroy their shortage of three goals in their quarterfinals of Champions League against Arsenal when the second stage starts on Wednesday in the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mikel Merino scored Arsenal's third in the first stage last Tuesday, and in an interview with Cope (via Relevanto), he spoke about the situation of Real Madrid's determination to get up on Wednesday before the return match.
“I didn't talk to my teammates about that issue. They know what happened in the past. On a personal level I have had good and bad experiences at the Bernabeu. I, as one of the team's veterans, will try to contribute to what I can do on an emotional level, but they are all fairly calm and confident that it will be a difficult game.”
Merino also spoke about Arsenal teammate Declan Rice and the two Freekicks he scored at the Emirates Stadium.
“He has deserved the right to take the next 150 Freekicks. Doing on such a large stage like that has a huge impact.”
During the interview, Merino was asked about the Real Madrid player with whom he would like to play the most, and he called someone who could have Arsenal a relatively realistic opportunity to sign – and someone who would also fulfill a need in the left wing position in the Mikel Arteta team.
“Everyone has their taste. I love them all, but I have a special weakness, or I like him nicer and I would like to play with him, it's Rodrygo. He is very good between the lines, he goes well in space, I really like to look at him.
