The form of Phil Foden has been 'fallen from a cliff' and he must be left outside the team of Manchester City for this summer's world cup, Ian Ladyman Chris Sutton told the last 'It is all starting!' Podcast.
FODEN, 24, was immersed before the hour during the Turgid Manchester Derby on Sunday who ended yawless.
The winger still made the headlines after the game because he was the target of offensive songs about his mother of rival fans.
Looking ahead to the World Cup of this summer in the club cup, the football editor Ian Ladyman of the Post Co-Gastheer Chris Sutton told that Foden's 'exhausted' performances demonstrate that the player needs a persistent break of the game to restore his form.
“Foden looks ruined, he looks exhausted, he looks like he needs a long rest,” said Ladyman.
'I think you sometimes come to a point with football players where you have to ask yourself: do we need that player for this tournament? What is the best for him? Do we have a duty of care towards him? '
'It doesn't happen very often, but I think we'll be at that point with Phil Foden – that guy has to stay at home in June and July so that he can breathe and get ready for next season.
'With Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and De Bruyne you can put their shape to get older and play at the highest level for a decade. You can't say that he is a young player with Phil – there must be another reason for what we see.
“This is not a dip – he looks on the floor.”
Last season, FODEN registered 19 goals and 8 assists in all competitions: his count this season is on 7 goals and 2 assists in 10 fewer matches.
He was named PFA Players' Player of the Year and Premier League player of the season, but had trouble making an impact for England at the euro.
Former professional player and expert Chris Sutton defended Foden and accused Ladyman of unfair 'to cool him out of an oppressive city side'.
'All players go through this; I went through it. He was the best player in the country last year and he now has a dip.
'You choose Foden because of his age. I don't see the age as you see it. Foden is one of the many players of Manchester City whose form has fallen from a cliff.
'Pep Guardiola is smart enough to realize whether there is a problem than football, whether he needs a mental break of the game or not. But I think you can now say that about every player of Manchester City. '
Sutton, however, added that he thinks that no Manchester City players should go to the Club World Cup this summer based on their tired versions this season.
'We know what that tournament is all about: it's about money, it's about finances, it's about greed.
'None of the players of Manchester City, based on the form of this season, should go. But they are going – I don't see myths so different from one of them. '
