In contrast to Carlos Prates, Ian Machado Garry 'Before not finish Neil Magny
Prates smoked Neil Magny in a round at UFC Vegas 100 last November for his tenth Straight Ko.
The Fighting Nerds star was critical of Machado Garry's inability to finish Magny on one leg during their fight on UFC 292.
Machado Garry says that Magny was a shell of his former self when he fought against Prates, after being dominated by him in 2023 and also by Michael Morales for a first round of TKO, a few months prior to UFC Vegas 100.
“Neil Magny is now my son,” Machado Garry said about the last victory of Prates in an interview with UFC.com.
“I took his masculinity. It's in my back pocket.
“If you look at that fight, he has not been the same since then.
“The whole world knows the difference in level between Neil Magny and I because I have wiped it out. 30-24 was the score card, I believe.
“I chose not to finish that man,” Machado Garry continued. “I easily walked through him and on Saturday evening I will do exactly the same as Carlos Prates.”
Ian Machado Garry enjoys 'mental warfare' of longer fights

Everyone likes a good knockout and that also applies to Machado Garry with seven on his resume. What really depicts Machado Garry proves that he is levels above his opponents and have fun while he is busy.
“I don't want a short fight,” Machado Garry explained.
“I don't want to go and just eliminate someone. I enjoy the mental warfare to beat someone together for twenty minutes. If this is my choice and I could ride it perfectly, I would like to persuade the man twenty -four minutes and want to finish it at the last minute. That is the type of person I am.
“I don't want anyone ever to have an excuse of, oh, it was just a happy staircase. What happened twenty -four minutes earlier? That's my attitude.
“If you look at a fight like Max Holloway versus Justin Gaethje, that's the kind of fight I like. That's a fight …”
Machado Garry continued.
'You walk away and you just take someone off? Great. Cool. Well done.
“I want to have fun,” Machado Garry said about his attitude towards fighting.
“I want to go outside and prove that who I get in that octagon where I am above. And on Saturday evening it is a case of how long he can last.”
Ian Machado Garry almost ended the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov in his last fight on UFC 310, who tried a second -nibbler choke in round 4, but could not close the show.
