Ian Machado Garry reacts after accepting late-notice UFC Kansas City main event against Carlos Prates

Ian Machado Garry has the chance to bounce back from his first loss in MMA after accepting a late Notice call to the UFC Kansas City main event.

Last December at UFC 310, Ian Machado Garry received his first loss in MMA when he was closely defeated by colleague undefeated welterweight, Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Because it had been a close struggle, Machado Garry disputed the loss and claimed that Rakhmonov only won 'by opinion'.

Despite the losing of Rakhmonov, when Belal Muhammad was booked to fight Jack della Maddalena on UFC 315 because of an injury to Shavkat, Machado Garry expressed his disappointment that he had not offered the title fight.

Ian Machado Garry responds to Late-notice fight against Prates

On April 26, the UFC returns to Kansas City for the third time in the history of the promotion, with the last event in 2023 when Max Holloway Arnold all took on the main event.

Jamahal Hill was originally planned to take on Khalil Rountree JR in the main event, but the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion withdrew from the battle due to injury.

This is the second time that the two are planned to fight each other because they were originally set to collide at UFC 303, but Rountree JR was taken out of the fight because of a failed drug test.

With the event only a few weeks away, UFC boss Dana White went to Instagram live last Tuesday to announce the new main event between Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates.

'The Nightmare' Prates was originally set to compete on UFC 314 on April 12, but Geoff Neal withdrew from the fight and left Prates without an opponent.

“It is official, you have a new main event, Kansas City, Missouri, Me Versus Carlos Prates, April 26, I am excited,” Machado Garry responded immediately in a video on his Instagram.

'The UFC is going:' Ah, we need someone, who do we need? Who are we calling? “You call me.

“Carlos Prates is great, but this is my world. I love fighting. There is nothing I love more in this world than fighting,” the Irishman continued.

Prates is currently in 13th place in the Welterweight Division and is generally considered one of the most exciting talents in the division, representing the rising 'Fighting Nerds'.

'The Future', on the other hand, is still arranged in the top 10 and hopes to return to the winning column and possibly back in title conflicts.

Other remarkable fights at the UFC Kansas City event

The return from the UFC to Kansas City is a good card on paper, where the new main event is demonstrably a better fight than the original main event.

In the Co-Main event, UFC veteran Anthony Smith takes on the Chinese prospect Mingyang Zhang, who has only fought in the UFC twice so far.

Fan favorite Michel Pereira also competes on the menu and takes on Abus Magomedov in an exciting middleweight collision.
