Zlatan Ibrahimovic has helped Marcus Rashford ahead of a potential move to AC Milan this month as the Italian team consider a deal.
The former Manchester United striker is now an advisor to the Rossoneri and would have vouched for Rashford when in doubt. The Wantaway striker has received the support of the Swede amid concerns about favoring the San Siro dressing room.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Milan are considering a move for the 27-year-old and are said to be concerned about Rashford's attitude and Ruben Amorim's decision to regularly leave him out of United's squad.
Rashford has expressed a desire to take on a new challenge, while United are keen to sell the academy product. However, the striker's £325,000-a-week salary could prove prohibitively expensive.
Mirror Football understands that Rashford's representatives have held talks with Barcelona. The Catalan club would need to find more than £5 million to complete a loan deal as they would have to shoulder the player's full wages.
Reports in Italy have suggested that Milan will find it easier to get a deal done and Ibrahimovic may now have allayed fears about helping get a transfer over the line. However, the Serie A side are reluctant to part with the money needed to pay Rashford's wages, with Alvaro Morata their current highest earner at £150,000 a week.
Asked to clarify Milan's advisory role earlier this season, Ibrahimovic said: “I am the boss and I am in charge, everyone else works for me.”
However, Milan has served to provide a more comprehensive overview.
“At AC Milan, Ibra will serve as Senior Advisor to Ownership, which is led by RedBird and includes the New York Yankees, one of RedBird's longest-standing partners in the sport,” said RedBird, owners of Milan.
“Working closely with both AC Milan ownership and senior management, Ibra will play an active role in the club's sporting and business activities and help strengthen the club's winning culture. His mandate includes player development and high-quality training, advancing AC Milan's global brand and commercial interests, and supporting special projects of strategic importance, including the club's new stadium.”
