Ilia Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev watch from corner as teammate is brutalized in UFC London opener

Despite collecting a super team in his corner, including people like Khamzat Chimaev and Ilia Topuria, Guram Kutateladze did a disappointing version in his return.

After he was inactive since August last year, when he welcomed Jordan Vucenic in the promotion, Guram Kutateladze returned to UFC London this Saturday.

Opposite him in the event opener was Kaue Fernandes, who has been 1-1 since participation in the promotion in 2023, which is a potentially exciting addition to the lightweight division.

'The Georgian Viking' is generally considered a dark horse by 155 pounds after he had picked up a victory over ranked competition, Mateusz Gamrot and Damir Ismagulov had given an extremely close fight.

Khamzat Chimaev and Ilia Topuria watch while Kutateladze becomes brutal

The Georgian gathered somewhat from a super team in his corner in front of his UFC London fight, including former UFC Vederweight Champion, Ilia Topuria, Khamzat Chimaev and Aleksandre Topuria.

The team of top athletes, however, had to watch while Kutateladze so far set up one of his worst versions and was completely brutal by his Brazilian opponent.

From the very beginning of the fight, the 33-year-old visibly struggled with the unorthodox stroke of Fernandes while he cut the legs of the Georgian and dropped him with brutal legs.

It seemed that Kutateladze would not come from the first round to receive corner advice from his elite teammates, but he did that surprising.

Unfortunately for him, however, it didn't make much difference, because the second round painted a similar image and Fernandes kept dropping him, bleeding his face and continuing his movement.

After he had dropped him again several times, Guram somehow brought the second round, clearly two rounds down and close to the cum.

What is the next step for Guram Kutateladze after another disappointing loss?

Somehow the 33-year-old reached the scor cards of the jury members, avoiding a finish, but the fight 30-27 for all three loses the scor cards from the jury members.

In the end, during his time in the promotion, Kutateladze did not realize his potential and he stays on the edge of cutting.

Now five fights in his UFC career, as 2-3, there is a possibility that 'the Georgian Viking' may not have any other chance to put on the UFC gloves.
