Ange Postecoglou insisted that his work in Tottenham is far from ready and taken out of media reporting from his team in a fiery press conference prior to the Europa League final.
Spurs is confronted with Manchester United in the showpiece on Wednesday in Bilbao, because they finally want to stop a painful trophy.
Tottenham last lifted a piece of large silverware 17 years and 86 days prior to the final of Wednesday, after he defeated Chelsea in the EFL Cup final of 2008 under Juande Ramos.
The last European trophy of the club was won 40 years and 363 days earlier, with Keith Burkinshaw supervision of a penalty shoot-out victory on other attachment in the UEFA Cup final of 1984.
In addition to the possibility to match the English record of three UEFA Cup/Europa League successes, Spurs could save the qualification of the Champions League from a miserable season by overcome United.
Spurs is 17th in the Premier League table with one more competition and will probably take their lowest finish since they were relegated one to 22nd place in 1976-77.
Postecoglou has hired problems with his team several times throughout the season and during Tuesday's press conference he caught up with a reporter from the London Standard.
The newspaper had published an article about Postecoglou's Spurs Legacy prior to the final, in which the Australian was described as “faltering between Hero and Clown”.
Postecoglou was tackled the media after Spurs had landed in Bilbao and said: “I will tell you one thing, regardless of tomorrow, I am not a clown and that will be.

“You really disappointed me that you used such a terminology to describe a person who has worked up for 26 years – without any favors of someone – to a position where he leads a club in a European final.
“To suggest that we are not successful in one way or another, I am a clown … I am not sure how to answer that question.”
The Tottenham Future of Postecoglou is far from certain, regardless of the result of Wednesday, but he is relaxed about the situation.
“I would not be the first person to change jobs. We are all changing jobs. My future is insured,” said Postecoglou.
“I have a beautiful family, I have a great life. I keep winning trophies until I am done, wherever that is. Don't worry about my future, size.”
However, the former Celtic boss does not believe that his position has become untenable and adds: “I don't think my work has been done here. I really have the feeling that we are building something and what a trophy is doing, hopefully, that is accelerating.
“I still think there is a lot of work to do. It is pretty clear, the challenges we have had this year, but there has also been a growth that I would like to see through.
“I feel that there is some growth there and that we can bring this club where it should be.”
Postecoglou is the first Australian manager to lead one side to a large European final.
The last copy of a certain nation that a manager would reach a major European final for the first time came in 2021, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of Norway lost the Europa League final while he was in charge of United (against Villarreal).
