Illness rules Barcelona star out of Champions League clash against Benfica

Barcelona has called their starting line-up to face Benfica in the first stage of their Champions League round of 16 collision in the Estadio Da Luz in Lisbon. Hansi Flick is determined to take advantage of the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company for next week's return bone, because he mentioned his “Gala XI” for the showdown collision.

Flick has made three changes on the side that fell aside Real Sociedad during the weekend. Wojciech Szczesny starts in Doel, with the defense Jules Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez and Alejandro Bald. In midfield, Frenkie de Jong prefers Marc Casado as a partner of Pedri, with Dani Olmo who works in the advanced role. The well-known front three lines together in attack, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha Flankend 34-goal striker Robert Lewandowski.

Gavi is a player who misses all the way in Lisbon. The 20-year-old was not risked against La Real because he suffered from fever, and that has continued to bully him in recent days. On Tuesday, during his press conference before the game, Flick confirmed that a late decision would be made, and in the end he was not made available.

According to the sport, since Steping Foot in Lisbon, Gavi has not been 100% at 100%, and because Flick is a manager who does not like to take risks with his players, he made the decision not to include him in the matchday team.

Instead, Ansu Fati has appeared rare on the Barcelona bank. The 22-year-old attacker, who has not been calculated by Flick in recent months, missed the team for the last three games against Las Palmas, Atletico Madrid and La Real, but because of Gavi's disease he was admitted for this, although it would be a surprise if he would see minutes.
