‘I’m better’… Dustin Poirier reveals game plan he’ll use to beat Max Holloway and retire on top at UFC 318

Dustin Poirier has revealed how he expects the last fight of his career to take place.

'The Diamond' will retire after his BMF title match against Max Holloway on UFC 318 on July 19.

Dustin Poirier is 2-0 in fighting against 'blessed'. The old competition almost broke the arm of a 19-year-old Holloway when he won their first scrap through entry on UFC 143 in February 2012.

Poirier ended Holloway's 13-Fecht Run when they braved the interim-light weight title seven years later on that occasion, he was pushed the five-round distance into a narrow and entertaining striking struggle.

Poirier recently sat down with the UFC -TAFTELEN recently before his retirement recently before his retirement.

The 36-year-old detailed exactly how he sees himself doing the job against Holloway.

“In my mind I get his timing early, hit him,” Poirier predicted.

“I hit him with shots that hurt him, miss him, [and] Let him pay by being better that night.

'He is a great hunter, but [on] July 19, I'm better. “

Poirier will retire as one of the best 155 pound hunters of all time, even though he is never the undisputed champion.

A favorite with fans, he is also highly appreciated by the most powerful man in MMA, Dana White.

The UFC CEO paid tribute to Poirier when he revealed that the real reason that UFC 318 will take place in New Orleans.

“I think ESPN posted a list of the latter, like 11 people he fought,” White said Saturday night at UFC Nashville.

“Seven of them were former world champions. He had an incredible career here.

“We love him, and I mean, we literally did this show for him, this card was built for him.”
