Andy Robertson says he teased Kenny Dalglish that he came “his Scotland Caps Record”, with the skipper who would go to third place in third place from his land list.
Robertson will earn his 81st cap when he leads Scotland out for the first stage of their Nations League play-off against Greece on Thursday.
The Liverpool defender will go beyond Darren Fletcher (80) on the list of his nation, with only Jim Leighton (91) and Dalglish (102) who appeared more often.
And the 31-year-old is not going to slow down.
“I actually said the other week to Kenny:” I come for you. “His answer was that many players said that before, and he is still the most important man,” Robertson told BBC Scotland.
“I like to play for Scotland, appears for every camp, and I want to get as many caps as I can. Wherever that brings me, it brings me. I am incredibly proud to reach 80.
“You are just dealing with what stands for you. There is so much going on, you can't look too far ahead. You need a bit of luck with injuries, but I do everything to ensure that I am in the best possible form for Liverpool and Scotland.”

Scotland strives to retain their competition in the Nations League, after he finished third in group A1 for Poland after a dramatic 2-1 victory in Warsaw.
Robertson was happy that his nation “kept our own” own “after a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign, in which they crashed in the group phase with only one point from three games.
“The Nations League has been important to us and the goal was always to come to League A,” said Robertson. “Then we saw the rewards when we held ourselves against Portugal and Croatia.
“There was a lot of negativity after the euros, and rightly so. We believed that we could come out of the group, and we did not perform at the levels we know we can.
“There was a lot of talk” Is this the end for this team? ” But I think we have been reflected very well. “
Attention will then focus on their attempt to reach a first world cup final since 1998. After he has already appeared on back-to-back European championships, it would be the icing on the cake for Robertson.
“Hopefully we have everyone fit, and we can give it a good shot,” he added. “Playing at a World Cup would be the ultimate.”
