Sir Jim Ratcliffe has indicated that he is running away from Manchester United – if he gets as much stick as the glazers.
The Ineos Chief, 72, took over in Old Trafford in February last year and promised to bring United to the “Top of World Football”.
Ratcliffe is forced to save costs since the completion of his £ 1.03 billion acquisition.
Fans have been critical of the brutal balancing of the books of the 72-year-old, including a series of fired, increased ticket prices and the removal of Sir Alex Ferguson as a club ambassador.
Ratcliffe defended the cutbacks and last week claimed that the club “would no longer have any money at Christmas” if he had not arrived.
He also outlined a positive future for the Red Devils after revealing a stunning new £ 2 billion stadium, 100,000 seats.
Proponents protested against ownership prior to the recent 1-1 draw with Arsenal in Old Trafford.
And Ratcliffe admits that being unrust in the storm of fan has not been easy.
He said to the Times: “It can be unpleasant. And I probably failed to have a nice front. I mean, I can tolerate it for a while.

“I don't mind being unpopular, because I get nobody likes to see Manchester United where they are, and nobody loves the decisions we have to make at the moment.”
Ratcliffe claims that if the abuse were too much that he could not attend games, he would walk away.
He continued: “So in the end, if it achieved the extent that the Glazer family was abused, then I should say, watch, enough boys, let someone else do this.
“They can't really come to a competition, the glazers. They have now withdrawn a bit in the shade, so I get all the bloody stick.
“We bought and I haven't seen them since.
“At the moment I have no security, I don't have to walk around like that.
“But it would beat the object, right? You could not tolerate it at that level, it just wouldn't be fun.”
Ratcliffe did not die last week when he focused on the flops of United, a number of “too much paid” and “not good enough”.
In conversation with the BBC, he said: “Some are not good enough and some are probably paid too much.
“But for us to form the team for which we are fully responsible and responsible will take time.
“We have this period of transformation where we will go from the past to the future.
“There are some great players in the team as we know, the captain is a fantastic football player.
“We absolutely need Bruno Fernandes, he is a fantastic football player.”
