In-demand Garnacho travels down to London with Man United squad for Fulham clash

Alejandro Garnacho is in Manchester United's traveling squad for their match against Fulham amid speculation over his future.

Garnacho, 20, has made 119 appearances for United since making his debut as a 17-year-old in 2022.

However, the Argentina winger could be on the move this month, with Chelsea and Napoli linked with the 20-year-old.

Mail Sport reported on Thursday that Chelsea are making a formal bid for Garnacho and have a clear chance of signing him, with Napoli shifting their attention to Borussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi after submitting bids ranging from £45 million to £50 million for the United winger.

It comes after Enzo Maresca's side made their opening inquiry last week, with United valuing the former Atletico Madrid youngster at around £65million.

Garnacho's agents Carlos Cambeiro and Quique de Lucas were even spotted during Chelsea's match against Wolves on Monday and are said to be open to their client's move to London.

United boss Ruben Amorim added fuel to the fire this week when he refused to rule out the sale of Garnacho.

Nevertheless, the 20-year-old has traveled to London with the Amorim squad for their Premier League match against Fulham on Sunday evening.

Garnacho, who has eight goals and five assists in 33 appearances in all competitions this season, is expected to be involved in the match at Craven Cottage, which starts at 7pm.

After their 2-1 win over Rangers on Thursday, where Garnacho played the full 90 minutes and was serenaded by fans throughout, Amorim opened up about the situation.

“I don't know what will happen,” he said. 'Let's focus on the team and the players we have here.

“We don't know what can happen until the window closes. Anything can happen. I'm focusing on the games and he's here, he's a player for Manchester United. He was very important for us today and we will show it in the coming days.

'I think he is improving in every aspect of the game. He played better inside today, also outside, changed positions, he improves the recovery position.'

The Portuguese coach continued: “You can see it up to 90 minutes that he is always there to recover and help, sometimes showing some frustration and that is good because he wants more.

“I think he has the potential to be so much better in every situation in the game. What I can say is that he understood what I was trying to do, it was very clear, I just want to help them, but in the end it is them who do the work.'

Qualifying as homegrown, the sale of Garnacho would provide United with a clear profit and more room to maneuver under PSR guidelines, especially as they face the prospect of failing to qualify for the Champions League this summer.

Meanwhile, despite links to Garnacho, Chelsea boss Maresca played down the speculation as he spoke ahead of their trip to Man City, insisting he is happy with his squad.

“I'm happy with the (wingers) we have at the moment,” he said. 'I've said many times: on the right are Pedro (Neto) and Noni (Madueke) and on the left are Jadon (Sancho).

'Misha (Mudryk) was with us, but now he is not with us, Tyrique (George) is a young profile who can help us. We're doing well at the moment.'
