Injured Barcelona star makes shock Super Cup request

Barcelona will have an extra name on board their flight to Saudi Arabia this week as Marc Bernal joins the squad.

The 17-year-old saw his breakthrough season cruelly cut short in August when he suffered an ACL tear that required surgery.

The club remains confident he will be a crucial player in the 2025/26 season and has secured an early contract extension with him in a vote of confidence.

The Spain U17 international is rumored to be making good progress with a grueling rehabilitation programme, amid rumors he could feature in the final weeks of 2024/25.

Despite being at an important point in his recovery, Bernal is keen to remain involved with the squad and has asked Hansi Flick if he can travel to Jeddah.

Flick is open to the idea, with Bernal working with Barcelona's medical staff during the trip to ensure he stays on track according to Mundo Deportivo.

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen will not fly out because his ACL recovery is at an earlier stage than Bernal's.
