10,000 fans flocked on Monday evening in the new stadium of Everton in Bramley-Moore for the first game on the ground.
At the end of this season, the Toffees will say goodbye to Goodison Park while they trade houses for Bramley-Moore, a stadium of £ 550 million that will contain 52,888 fans for what will almost certainly be, again, Premier League football.
Everton will set up various competitions and events on the Bramley-Moore Dock site at the beginning of this year and that started on Monday with the Everton Under 18 Side who participated in a friendly.
Tickets were priced at £ 5 for adults and £ 2.50 for concessions. In the second test event, 25,000 will be allowed for more than a month for more than 21 years.
Everton is not yet allowed to play competitive luminaires in the stadium. The test events-a third will probably take place at almost full capacity later in the season-the club will enable the required license and safety certificates.
The young people under the age of 18 were managed by former Everton and England left Leighton Baines, who played 420 Toffees matches in 13 seasons. Since he left to join the first team coaching staff of David Moyes, Keith Southern has taken over. Everton considered opening a women's fixture to open the stadium, but the schedule made this difficult.
The game, which was played against Wigan, started the match live on the YouTube channel of the club at 7 p.m.
An X account for the stadium shared images from an interview with two fans, with one explaining how they 'felt excited like a child at Christmas'.
“I will be devastated to leave Goodison, but this is something else, this,” the added from the ground.
Images were also shared from fans were in the New South Stand, because the club encouraged supporters to send in their photos and videos of the event.
Everton has been in Goodison Park for almost 134 years, but decided to leave in 2017, with Bramley-Moore Dock the preferred site for the new land.
Construction began in July 2021 and the land was structurally completed after the last concrete terrace panel was introduced in February last year.
The contractor handed the stadium in December and Everton will now play to play games to obtain the relevant licenses.
By kicking off against Wigan, the ground was not even a fifth full, but fans were in the South Stand to watch the friendly game.
The first goal in the new site was scored by Wigan, who took the lead by Harrison Rimmer.
Rimmer celebrated six fingers – probably in reference to Liverpool who won the Champions League six times.
Everton's side game in the U18 Premier League, while Wigan plays in the U18 Professional Development League.
