Insider from Khamzat Chimaev’s UFC 319 camp reveals improvement that could spell trouble for Dricus du Plessis

According to Arman Tsarukyan, Khamzat has long considered Chimaev to consider his greatest weakness.

After having overcome a multitude of health problems that have prevented him from staying active in the cage, Chimaev is finally approaching his first title shot in the UFC.

The unbeaten phenomenon has so far passed all the one, and the last obstacle in his way of winning gold is UFC Middleweight Champion Dric Du Plessis, who also has a puzzle that nobody has squatted in the Octagon.

Many tilt the quick start 'Borz' to be precise what is needed to beat 'still nocks', but according to one of his prominent training partners, Chimaev has more than one route to victory.

In his most recent fight, Chimaev Robert Whittaker, with a Face Crank entrance, only a few minutes in their UFC 308 showdown. The 31-year-old has become known to burst out of the gates, where Li Jingliang and Kevin Holland also quickly fall to Chimaev.

But 'Borz' is sometimes pushed to the limit. After Gilbert Burns threatened him in 2021, Chimaev was also strictly tested by Kamaru Usman in 2023. And what did those results had in common? The Chechen star was dragged to the distance in both.

That is many who point to Chimaev's Cardio as his biggest weakness and predicting that Du Plessis' path to victory lies in the survival of the first three rounds.

But while he spoke in a recent interview with Kamil Gadzhiev, the most prominent figure suggested in the unbeaten UFC 319 camp of Challenger, the top lightweight competition Arman Tsarukyan, that that is no longer the case.

“In this camp, Khamzat has improved his recovery capacity and strength and conditioning,” said Tsarukyan (translated by Red Corner MMA).

“He has worked on his strength and conditioning twice a week, in addition to standing out sparring sessions and wrestling. He works with a new strength and conditioning coach (for his) cardio.

“So I believe in this coming fight, his cardio must be very good,” Tsarukyan added. “He was tested every day (in that area). His recovery capacity is a device that shows his recovery statistics every morning immediately after he finishes.”

The teammate of Dricus Du Plessis predicts that Khamzat Chimaev has no time to show off cardio improvement

Tsarukyan's comments can further increase the number of MMA fans who from Chimaev that the reign of Du Plessis at UFC 319 will end. But it will be counted.

Du Plessis has promised to beat Chimaev and continue his habit to incorrectly prove his opponents, and one of his teammates expects this to happen before the main event of 16 August reaches the championship rounds.

“Dricus finishes him less among the three. I (Chimaev) cannot see more than three last. He will come out and burn himself (out),” Mark Hulme told Talksport.

“I don't think people have seen the size of Dricus' struggling, and if I know him, it is that he has a point to prove. If people think that Khamzat is the man to struggle, he can just hold him off and slide his head on his A -.”
