Inter Miami coach Mascherano sees Club World Cup positives despite PSG thumping

Inter Miami left the club World Cup with a 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, but coach Javier Mascherano believes that their experience at the tournament will benefit both his side and Major League football.

With eight times Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi in their ranks, Inter Miami reached the knockout phases by achieving second place in group A.

Their decisive defeat by PSG, the former Messi team,, however, emphasized the gap between the MLS and the best European clubs.

“There is a huge lesson to learn here. We are going to judge all of this and I think they will go hand in hand now if we can make an inventory of this experience,” he said.

“I think this will help us when we bring this to our National League. It is of course that it depends on our own personal intelligence that we have at our disposal as a team to use this experience.

“PSG is a great team. They have high caliber players and a great head coach, Luis Enrique, whom I know personally. I feel that this is a team that will be remembered.”
