The Herons are preparing an 'exit operation' for next season.
It has not been a quiet winter in Florida. Inter Miami's 'Operation Exit' is gaining momentum, with more than four first-team departures raising hopes of a quieter transfer window at Chase Stadium.
The exits of Leo Campana, CJ Dos Santos and Diego Gómez could soon be followed by those of Julian Gressel and Matías Rojas. The goal is clear: free up space on the payroll and create room to sign another star player to their growing list of 'galácticos'.
MLS Fair Play (FFP) was one of the biggest challenges at Chase Stadium last season. For example, the signing of Luis Suárez was only made possible after several players, including Josef Martínez, were fired.
Inter Miami is selling major assets
During the summer, there was speculation about high-profile signings such as Neymar or Ángel Di María, but these options were quickly dismissed due to the team's precarious financial situation. While MLS is willing to help the franchise, it won't do so without conditions.
So far, Inter Miami has already managed to free up a significant portion of their salary budget. Between the sales of CJ Dos Santos and Leo Campana, the club has freed up nearly $4 million in payroll costs, along with other financial adjustments.
The most important development, however, is the availability of a Designated Player (DP) spot. With only Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets currently occupying DP spots, the team is now in a position to pursue another high-calibre 'galáctico'.
Which players can Inter Miami sign?
Several names have been associated with Chase Stadium. Several European legends could consider heading to the United States for a high-profile retirement. Initially, there were rumors that Antoine Griezmann would be the face of the inauguration of the club's new stadium.
However, Messi's expected contract extension appears to have put an end to that speculation. Griezmann now seems destined for LAFC, where he will join compatriots Olivier Giroud and Hugo Lloris.
Meanwhile, Neymar's continued stay at Al Hilal may be nothing more than a negotiating tactic. Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas is reportedly keen to bring the Brazilian superstar to Florida.
While no specific timeline has been set, the club is taking a patient approach, just as they did with Messi. Whether in January or after the Club World Cup, Inter Miami is determined to make Neymar a reality. In Fort Lauderdale, patience is more than a virtue: it's a strategy.
