Inter Miami star shocks with bold Premier League claim

Federico Redondo was asked where he thinks the herons would end during a recent interview in England.

There is a lot of pressure on Inter Miami on the way to the 2025 season. Since the transforming arrival of Lionel Messi in 2023, the herons have shown consistent progress, that year the competitions on lifting and following with the supporters' Shield in 2024.

In 2025, possibly the last season of Messi and Luis Suárez, the MLS Cup is the main prize. The pressure is high on the new head coach Javier Mascherano, but another Argentinian, midfielder Federico Redondo, is Bullish about the quality of the team.

In an interview with the goal, Redondo was asked where he thinks Inter Miami would end in the Premier League. He replied: “Europa League position”, which means a fifth or sixth placed finish for the herons. He also claimed that multi-year French champions Paris Saint-Germain in MLS, behind Inter Miami, would end.

It is a daring claim from Redondo, which has quietly established itself as one of the most talented young midfielders in MLS since he arrived a year ago. The 22-year-old is now a fixture at the Argentina U23 team and will learn a lot from his Miami teammate, the Spanish midfielder Sergio Busquets.

His claims can be put to the test this summer when Inter Miami participates in the club World Cup. The herons are in CWC Group A with Palmeiras, FC Porto and Al Ahly FC, but they can be confronted with Premier League opposition if they continue to the knockout rounds. Manchester City and Chelsea, who finish in the sixth last season, are the two English representatives in the competition.
