The goalkeeper suffered a broken thumb in training on Thursday and immediately underwent surgery.
On Friday evening, Inter reported that the operation had been successful and that Sommer's rehabilitation would begin on Monday.
It has been suggested that Sommer will be missing for at least three weeks.
As such, Back -Up Keeper Josep Martinez will now intervene as the replacement of the veteran.
