Inter Milan coach Inzaghi “satisfied” with victory over RB Leipzig
A deflected free kick from Fede Dimarco gave Inter the three points.
“Of course we are satisfied, because we knew how important tonight's match was. It is true that Leipzig have zero points, but until last Saturday they were second in the Bundesliga with the best defense in the league. They have a lot of quality and are well drilled,” Inzaghi told Sky Italia.
“We had to keep the balance and that was not easy against a very aggressive team that put a lot of pressure on. The only problem was not scoring the second goal, but apart from a single save from Yann Sommer we didn't really suffer much.”
On not creating more possession, Inzaghi also said: “I agree that looking at the amount of possession we had, Dumfries' chance straight after the restart could probably have taken the game to another level , although I have doubts. about Mkhitaryan's disallowed goal.
“On the whole, however, Openda, Sesko and Nusa are all very talented players we played against and it is no surprise that they were in the 2020 semi-finals and have played in the Champions League for six years in a row.
“We needed the Inter performance I wanted and saw, constantly focused and ready to cover any space.”
