Inter striker Mehdi Taremi to miss start of CWC after being stranded in Iran

Inter Milan Vooruit Mehdi Taremi is stranded in Tehran because of the conflict between Iran and Israel and will miss the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, the Italian club confirmed on Saturday.

Taremi was in Iran at international service last week and scored in a 3-0 win in North Korea in a world cup qualifying game.

The 32-year-old, however, was unable to get a flight to join his inter-teammates in Los Angeles because of the constant confrontation between Iran and Israel.

An interbron confirmed to AFP that Taremi was stranded in his home country.

Inter open their Club World Cup campaign against the Mexican Side Monterrey on Tuesday in the Pasadena Rose Bowl east of Los Angeles.

The Opener marks the first match responsible for the new Intercoach Cristian Chivu, which was mentioned on Monday as the successor to Simone Inzaghi, who left after the 5-0 dribing of the club against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

Chivu said at an introductory press conference on the team base in Beverly Hills, and said that Inter was ready to bounce back from the double disappointment of missing the Serie A title and the Champions League final.

The 44-year-old former Romanian international said that Inter could look back on the season with pride.

“We should not forget the journey of this team – it was a great season,” said Chivu.

“This team has a high quality. They immediately got to the end, but they didn't get the trophies. It was not a failure of a season.

“We have eliminated Bayern and Barca in the Champions League. We were top of the competition, one of the best in Europe, for a long time. We cannot forget this. Failure does not exist in football. Failure is apologies.”
