The players of Inter know that there is still work to be done, but talking about a Treble started after the Nerazzurri had expanded their lead at the top of the Serie A with a comeback victory on Saturday.
Inter is now giving a four-point lead at the top of the Serie A table, although Napoli could reduce that back to one point with a victory over Fiorentina on Sunday.
After a 2-0 win away to Feyenoord in the first-16-stage of the Champions League in the midweek, Inter has one foot in the quarterfinals and they have a semi-final of Coppa Italia against AC Milan to look forward to in April.
At the bottom of the table, Monza looked like a shock of a shock when they took a 2-0 lead in the first half, but Marko Arnautovic and Hakan Calhanoglu leveled the score before Georgios Kyrakopoulos interior gave the victory.
“We cannot underestimate teams, the opponents are good. In the end we dominated, we tried everything and we are happy with the victory,” Calhanoglu, who scored his 50th Serie A goal on Saturday, told Sky.
“The coaches [Simone Inzaghi] Mentality is correct, we will try to win the Treble. It is a very long season, let's take it step by step. “
Arnautovic experienced the winning of the Treble with Inter in 2010, but then the on-Loan striker saw even less of the action, making three short replacement performances in all competitions.
He scored at home in two consecutive performances (after he also scored against Fiorentina) for the first time since a run of three between August and September 2022 for Bologna.
“I was a fan when Inter won the first Treble. I was with them, it's a pride for me, but I don't have the feeling that it is mine because I may play two or three games,” Arnautovic said.
“Now I am here, we try to win everything, knowing that it is not easy.
“This victory weighs heavy because we were 2-0 in the first 25 minutes, then we did our work, just like our fans. We are very happy, but it is not over because the championship is still very long.”
Yann Bisseck also believes that the club can still win a treble.
“100% possible, we are still in all competitions,” said Bisseck.
“Let's go step by step, concentrated, let's see what's happening.”
Simone Inzaghi also has faith in the opportunities of Inter to win silverware this season, after they have corrected a reporter prior to their Champions League, by saying that they were still on course for the Treble.
After the victory over Monza, Inzaghi repeated the hope of Inter to get hold of all the trophies, but point out that a fourth is also available for them this term.
“I should have corrected myself again and said fourfold because at the end of the season we are also in the race for the club World Cup,” smiled Inzaghi.
“The only idea in our thoughts is to make our fans happy by trying to honor every game. It's not easy, but these guys have a great mind, we want to make one game at the same time and in a few days we'll be back on the field against Feyenoord.”
