Inzaghi goes easy on Inter despite disappointing Bologna draw

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi saw no need to give his players a dressing down after Wednesday's 2-2 draw against Bologna.

The Nerazzurri saw a six-match winning streak in Serie A ended, with Emil Holm's goal midway through the first half securing a share of the win for the San Siro visitors.

Inter scored a goal after fifteen minutes, but quickly came back through Denzel Dumfries, and Lautaro Martinez put them ahead before half-time.

Yet a disjointed second-half performance saw them settle for a point, leaving them three behind leaders Napoli.

“We are not happy at all, but I don't blame the boys,” said Inzaghi.

“They played an excellent match, against a worthy opponent. Bologna should be recognized for playing an excellent, organized match.

“Despite some numerical problems, the boys put in a great performance. We had a lot of situations [but] we could have done better, as could their two goals, both of which were deflections.

“Yet I saw a great team against a physical opponent.”

Bologna had beaten Inter in two of their previous four competitive meetings, so Matteo Darmian looked to capitalize on the positives.

“When we go on the field, we want to get the win, especially at home,” said Inter defender Darmian.

“We responded well, even took the lead and then got the equalizer. We get a point in a positive way, because 44 points achieved in the first 19 games is an important result.

“I think we've had an important first half of the season.

“Maybe we didn't start in the best way [but] we are back on the right track and I don't think we should make comparisons with last year.

We have to continue what we were doing. We are in a good position and must continue in this way.”
