Despite the fact that he removed a late 1-1 draw in Sunday's dramatic derby against AC Milan, Simeone Intaghi continued to regret certain aspects of Inter's performance.
Stefan de Vrij scored the equalizer in the 93rd minute to grab a point for Inter, who had pushed the entire game to get to the score sheet.
Federico Dimarco and Lautaro Martinez had not allowed goals for offside in the first half, while the Argentinian was also refused in the second half, with that goal excluded for an error by Denzel Dumfries on Theo Hernandez in the structure.
The men of Inzaghi also hit the woodwork three times, with Yann Bisseck, Marcus Thuram and Dumfries all hit the woodwork before the Vrij finally got the breakthrough.
Two of the last three times in which Inter has hit Het Houtwerk at least three times in a Serie A match, happened against Milan, earlier in September 2019.
Inter is said to have gone at the top of the table for the time being if they had beaten their rivals and stayed there after Napoli points in a 1-1 draw with Roma later on Sunday.
“The boys were beautiful, they went further than themselves,” Inzaghi told Sky Sports.
“Unfortunately they could not go further than the different episodes. Three messages, three goals are not allowed and a sensational penalty that was not given. They were beautiful and we managed to level in the 93rd minute.
“There is regret, we always want to win and it didn't happen. Despite the episodes, we have not discouraged ourselves.”
Inzaghi had sent all five substitutes with 14 minutes to play, and one of those replacements, Nicola Zalewski, had only signed Roma on the loan on Saturday.
He made an immediate impact, slamming the ball to help the equalizer of De Vrij.
“He stood up well, he has quality and we missed such a person,” said Inzaghi. “I am happy [Sunday] Morning he was ready immediately and will give us a hand. “
“It has definitely been a roller coaster, [on Saturday] We did everything in a hurry, “Zalewski added.
“We tried to make it on time to be available today, it was a happy game from some points of view, but we did well to draw it.”
