Inzaghi says fatigued Inter are outsiders for Bayern tie

Simone Inzaghi believes that inter outsiders are for their Champions League quarterfinals draw with Bayern Munich, with three important players who are doubtful for the first stage of Tuesday.

Inter goes to the Allianz Arena with the non-enviable task to try to put Bayern's 22 game undefeated run at home in the Champions League.

The last visiting team that won in the competition in Bayern was Paris Saint-Germain, who triumphed 3-2 four years ago in the first stage of a last-like draw.

Inzaghi feels that Bayern deserves to be treated as one of the favorites to win the tournament, after he has taken the last 16 past Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

“They are an experienced team, they have absence like us. They press hard, are intense and have gone far in this competition for many years,” Inzaghi said reporters.

“Together with Real Madrid, they are the big favorites for the trophy, but we are still coming here to play a great game.”

Inter remains on the hunt for a Treble, sitting at the top of the Serie A table and reaching the semi-final of Coppa Italia.

“We know what our path has been, that I have been here for four years and we never chose between tournaments,” Intaghi continued.

“We have always given priority to the next competition, knowing that we represent a great club and will try to cause problems for everyone.”

However, the last push of the Nerazzurri towards the end of the season can be affected by fatigue-related injuries, with Hakan Calhanoglu, Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco doubtful for the Bayern match.

“Bastoni and Calhanoglu trained with the team this morning, so they have to be evaluated, while Dimarco worked separately,” said Inzaghi.

“Lautaro Martinez was only meant to play the first half in Parma (a 2-2 draw on Saturday) but he played 70 minutes. He is fine and I think he will play tomorrow.”

When he was questioned about his strategy to combat the renowned intensity of Bayern, Inzaghi emphasized the importance of teamwork.

“It is a characteristic of Bayern. Every time I have confronted them, I found them as an intense team,” he said.

“It will be a match to approach with energy and determination, all together. Everyone must be involved.”
