Inter -President Giuseppe Marotta says that the contract extension of Simone Inzaghi will be a “formality” if the head coach wants to stay at the club.
Inzaghi, who took the lead in May 2021, will expire its current deal at the end of the 2025-26 season, although it is expected to stay with the Serie A-side.
Since the arrival at the club, the 48-year-old 134 of his 201 matches has won in all competitions (D36 L31), with a win percentage of 66.67%.
Inzaghi also led the club to the Serie A title last season, along with winning two Coppa Italia titles and three consecutive Supercoppa Italiana trophies.
Inter also reached the Champions League final in 2023 under the steward of Inzaghi, but lost 1-0 to Manchester City in Istanbul.
The Nerazzurri are currently three points clearly on the Serie A -TOP, and Marotta is confident to continue the relationship between Inter and Inzaghi.
“We are very happy with Inzaghi, his contract renewal is a formality,” said Marotta Radio Anch'io Lo Sport.
“He worked very well in those years and he is a role model for the entire club from a technical point of view.
“He is one of the best managers there are, and he also has the advantage that he is once a great football player.
“We are very happy to have him with us and I think that if everything is said and done, we will come together with the club and extend his contract.”

Marotta also spoke about the attack of Inter in the midst of reports that they want to strengthen on the top of the field when the current campaign ends.
The Inzaghi team is the top scorers in the Serie A this season with 65 goals, with Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez who are combined 24 of those.
“The attack? I have to say that, given our statistics, we have the most productive attack in the competition, so we have no problems there,” said Marotta.
“We may not have succeeded in scoring in one game. In everyone others we found the back of the net. I would say there is no problem.
“The arrangement of Inzaghi works well, when a team that is ready to jump ahead. [Lazio’s Gustav] Isaksen? He is a good player, but every day people say that we are interested in some player.
“We already have a great partnership in advance, Lautaro and Thuram. I think they are the best in Italy, and they are there with the best in Europe.
“It is clear that we make a plan and we will keep in mind what the market has to offer, to create the best possible team that will help us achieve our goals that we have set ourselves”
