Iraola ‘really happy’ at Bournemouth despite Tottenham links

Andoni Iraola insists that he is “really happy” in Bournemouth, in the midst of speculation that connects him with Tottenham.

Bournemouth is 10th in the Premier League table and is good on the hunt to secure the European qualification next season, because they follow Chelsea in fourth place with only five points.

The cherries are also in the quarter -finals of the FA Cup, with a draw against Manchester City in the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

The impressive work of Iraola has linked him to a move to Spurs, who stands 14th in the table, which has passed a difficult campaign that has mounted pressure on Ange Postecoglou.

The focus of the Spaniard, however, is on continuing to make steps with Bournemouth.

“I want to do my work as well as possible,” he told reporters during his press conference before the competition. “I don't know how far we can go, or where we are ready. If I don't do the work so well, they will find someone else.

“I am really happy here. We have a great opportunity to write history, and for me it would be great for the club to reach new heights, but we know that we should be realistic.

“There are better teams than we do, and we have to fight against teams that are very good. We will try to give the best level we have.”

Iraola also spoke about defender Dean Huijsen, who is said to be on Real Madrid's Radar after an impressive debut season in the Vitality Stadium after his move from Juventus.

The 19-year-old has made this period of 23 performances in the Premier League, without a Bournemouth player who makes more blocks than he (24), while only Illia Zabarnyi (133) has made more approvals among his teammates (126).

Huijsen was rewarded with his first senior caps for Spain in their Nations League Quartefinal-equal game against the Netherlands during the recent international break.

“We are not surprised [with the transfer talk]Probably because he has now made his national team debut, “Iraola added.

“He has played consistently and I think he performed very well. He has had to deal with very difficult attackers, but we already knew that he was a very good player when he came in the summer.”
