Alexander Isak has broken his silence after he had become involved in a transfer waga in which Liverpool was involved, in which Newcastle performs a reaction, although one contractual clause can further complicate things
Alexander Isak from Newcastle has broken his silence while his Liverpool Transfer Saga continues. Although a clause in the 25-year-old contract with regard to the former club Real Sociedad could throw another key in the works.
The Swedish striker made it clear last month that he wanted to explore his options from St James' Park, and while the Reds made an £ 110 million bid, this was far below the appreciation of Newcastle. Since then, a stalemate has been met, where Isak refuses to play for the club, and the magpies who insist that it is not for sale and stays on Tyneside unless an adequate offer is made.
On Tuesday, Isak spoke for the first time since the drama unfolded and explained his absence of the Awards Gala of the Professional Footballers' Association. Newcastle gave a meaningful answer, because the possibility of an agreement with Liverpool remains in the air, although a sold-out clause in the contract of the 25-year-old can further complicate things.
Isak's statement was damn. In the light of this increasingly harmful disagreement, the star stir, who went away from the first team of Newcastle, that promises had been broken.
“I kept silent for a long time while others have spoken,” Isak wrote. “That silence has enabled people to push their own version of events, although they know that it does not reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.
“The reality is that promises have been made and the club has known my position for a long time. To pretend that these problems are only on the rise, it is misleading.
“When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship cannot continue. That is where things are now for me – and why a change in everyone's best interest is, not just myself.”
Yet a deal for Isak would be complicated. The £ 110 million package of the Reds was quickly punished and it is thought that Isak will be appreciated at no less than £ 150 million. Nevertheless, it seems that a British record transfer costs are what is needed to secure its services.
Adding further complications is a sale clause that was inserted in the deal of Isak when he moved from Real Sociedad to Newcastle in 2022. The Swede arrived in England for a fee of £ 63 million, and a capital clause of 10 percent was attached to his deal. As such, the Spanish party receives that percentage of all the profit made of the future sale of Isak. For example, if he is sold for £ 150 million, this would go an amount of £ 8.7 million to Spain.
Such a provision can cause Newcastle to demand an even higher price for Isak, and Liverpool could pay extra to ensure that the Magpies receive a final amount that they are satisfied with. As their answer to Isak's statement, Newcastle itself does not see a deal that is completed this window.
It was said: “We are clear that Alex remains under contract and that a club official never assumed that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer. We want to keep our best players, but we also understand that players have their own wishes and we listen to their opinion.
“As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into account the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale did not happen this summer.
“We do not foresee that those conditions are met. This is a proud football club with proud traditions and we strive to retain our family feeling. Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed when he is ready to join his teammates.”
