It can only be a matter of time before Islam Makhachev increases a weight class.
The UFC light weight champion has been considering the enormous career change for a while, one of the few roadblocks between him and a second belt is his friendship with the current Welterweight King Belal Muhammad.
Islam Makhachev has locked four consecutive defending defense on 155 pounds, all fights against former featherweights and fellow champion Alexander Volkanovski.
Muhammad is still to defend his title against Jack della Maddalena, who soon meets the Australian in the main event of UFC 315 on 10 May.
Della Maddalena is currently unbeaten on a win of 17 fights and is currently unbeaten in the UFC on 7-0 with victories over Gilbert Burns, Kevin Holland and Randy Brown.
