If Islam Makhachev moves to the UFC Welterweight Division, a top candidate is happy to have the line skipped for a title shot.
UFC Lichtweight Champion Islam Makhachev is planning his next movement after the last defense of the belt against Renato Moicano on UFC 311. After the supplement of Ilia Topuria to the lightweight division Leek Makhachev in line to be confronted with Topuria for its next Tegelher, but has since made a single way -but has since sought -off An immediate title shot of the Featherweight champion.
In the meantime, Makhachev is said to be considering a full-time relocation to Welterweight for its next UFC company. But a big obstacle stands in the way of making the switch, because UFC Welterweight champion Belal Muhammad is a friend and teammate of Makhachev.

In anticipation of UFC Kansas City this weekend, Ian Machado Garry has set his sights on earning a goodweight title shot after his first career loss at Shavkat Rakhmonov in December. Garry takes on Carlos Prates in a crucial welterweight collision this weekend.
During a recent interview with Shakiel Mahjouri from CBS Sports, Garry acknowledged how the addition of Makhacheve to the Welterweight Division would influence the best contenders.
“He can jump in line if he wants to, he is Islam Makhachev, he is the pound-for-pound number one. You have to give respect when respect is due,” said Garry about Makhachev. “And if that man pops up and says,” I want to be the next one, “I think everyone in the Welterweight division gives the 'OK'. And I think if you try to claim that, you have no respect for the largest in the world.
“I think he is an absolute disaster for everyone in the division when he comes up and does not have to be weighed … He is the perfect example of the new evolution of hunters, great everywhere. You look at Khabib, and Khabib was dominant in grappling. Islam is it exactly the same when it is to be clean. '
Garry is one of the many young stars in the Welterweight Division, alongside Prates, Michael Morales and Jack della Maddalena. At present, the next fight by Makhachev has not been booked, although an international clash of the Vechtweek with Topuria is a possibility.
If Makhachev leaves the lightweight title for a movement to Welterweight, and Maddalena wins on UFC 315, Maddalena vs. Makhachev may be the following title fight. If Muhammad wins, Makhachev may be able to postpone a movement to good weight or wait until the title of Mohammed comes to an end.

Topuria recently started his training camp, rumor that it was a fight on UFC 317 in June. But at the moment nothing has been announced with regard to his next fight, which means that Makhacheve Topuria could dictate the next opponent of Topuria.
In the meantime, Garry and Prates have driven out in recent days, making their UFC Kansas City Main Event all the more important. The winner could possibly get a step closer to a title shot, alongside people like UFC London winner Sean Brady and Rakhmonov.
If Makhachev goes up, the UFC Welterweight Division is stacked even more. It is one of the biggest storylines of 2025, because the Pound-for-Pond Koning shows its next move.
