Islam Makhachev’s coach makes shocking pick for champion’s next title fight opponent

The old coach of Islam Makhachev has a surprising name in mind for the next fight of the UFC Lightweight King.

UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhakev's Next fight remains a mystery after he had defeated Renato Moicano in his most recent defending defense on UFC 311. Several big names, including Ilia Topuria and former BMF champion Justin Gaethje, were thrown around for the next title of Makhachev.

Makhachev is expected to return to the Octagon somewhere this summer, possibly for the UFC International Fight Week card in June. The pound-for-pound King of the UFC has also plagued a future move to welterweight or middleweight, depending on the result of the upcoming headliner of Welterweight between teammate Belal Muhammad and Jack della Maddalena.

A superfight with Topuria is at the top of the wish list of the Fans of the UFC for the next defending defense of Makhachev. After Arman Tsarukyan had withdrawn to a notification from UFC 311, he will probably have to win at least one fight before he returns to the lightweight title shot conversation.

Coach Javier Mendez makes a surprising choice for the next fight by Islam Makhachev

Makhachev has dismantled various UFC fan favorites during his lightweight title line, including victories on Dustin Poirier and two-time UFC Vederweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski. To add to his great legacy of all time, Makhachev could possibly make another big name during his lightweight title line before he weighs a potential weight class movement.

The old coach of Makhachev has an intriguing name in mind for the next defending defense of the lightweight champion.

In a recent episode of the Javier & Mo -Show, Makhachev's old coach Javier Mendez Tabbed Paddy Pimblett for the next opponent of the lightweight champion.

“Paddy is ready to face someone what he has already done, his faith letters, his winning record in the UFC and his hype and what he can do and how he can motivate people, if [the UFC] Gives him the next title shot, he deserves it, “said Mendez about Pimblett.” So who they give it, they give, so let's see who they give it …

“Who then comes with him in the Arena? Don't know. But [Paddy] worthy? Yes. He is very interesting and he has all England behind him. The majority of America will be behind him. He has a lot of fans and I am a fan. I wasn't a big fan in the beginning, I wasn't, when he fought against Jared Gordon … but I became a big fan. “

Last weekend Pimblett won the biggest victory of his MMA career at UFC 314, made Michael Chandler within three rounds and made a strong thing for a number 1 contender fight. Pimblett called Tsarukyan, Gaethje, Poirier and Charles Oliveira in his interview after the fight and rejected a potential collision with Topuria for his next Octagon performance.

The Makhachev team hesitates to grant Topuria an immediate title shot after he has moved from featherweight. But the UFC matchmakers may be able to move in that direction, despite the fear of Makhachev for a confrontation with Topuria.

Dustin Poirier proposed an alternative for the next fight by Paddy Pimblett

Poirier suggested in a recent interview with MMA Junkie that Pimblett was confronted with a former opponent than Hooker for his next lightweight test. Hooker was supposed to experience Gaethje in a no. 1 competition fight on UFC 313 before he withdrew due to injury.

The rumor is that Poirier is confronted with BMF title holder Max Holloway for his UFC pension fight later this year, and an announcement with regard to his last hurray could be made in the coming weeks. Poirier has not fought anymore since he loses Makhachev on UFC 302 last June.

As far as Pimblett is concerned, he remains unbeaten in his UFC career with victories over Jared Gordon, King Green and Chandler. The British star is quickly approaching the UFC light weight Title mix.
