Islam Makhachev’s manager contradicts coach’s endorsement of potential Ilia Topuria super fight

Members of the inner circle of Islam Makhachev have different views of the lightweight champion, after which Ilia Topuria is confronted.

UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria now share the same weight class after Topuria has announced his relocation a division. But the path from Topuria to an immediate title shot may not be as straight and narrow as the current featherweight champion could be projected.

Topuria will leave the belt of featherweight in favor of a lightweight title run as soon as Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes enter the Octagon on UFC 314 in April. After beating Max Holloway on UFC 308, Topuria announced a planned full -time relocation to 155 pounds, despite only one featherweight title defense.

Despite the fighting at lightweight only once in his UFC official period, the Topuria case was approved for an immediate title shot by Makhachever's head coach Javier Mendez. But UFC Hall of Famer Khabib Nurmagomedov opposed Mendez's approval by giving an opinion that Topuria should win at least one high -profile fight before he has to shoot the case at the lightweight championship.

The manager of Islam Makhachev: Ilia Topuria needs 'legitimate' lightweight fight for title shot

In a recent message to X, Makhachevan's manager Rizvan Magomedov responded to the lightweight movement of Topuria.

“Topuria vs. Dustin/Charles Contender Fight, to prove that he is a legitimate lightweight. So we don't have to beat another 'small featherweight', “said Magomedov about Makhachev vs. Topuria. “We need large fights that make sense to everyone.

“We have already given opportunities to a featherweight champion that ruled for a long time.”

Magomedov refers to the two lightweight defines of Makhachev against Volkanovski, in which the lightweight champion retained the belt in both cases. Makhachev played Volkanovski in a short-notice confrontation on UFC 294.

Ilia Topuria's two-division champion chase forced the UFC to add a new rule

The title holiday of Topuria came in the midst of the new rule of the UFC with regard to two -weight championship activities. If a current UFC title holder wants to fight for another belt, they have to leave their titles, eliminating the possibility of simulating Conor McGregor and the 'Champ-Champ' appropriations of Daniel Cormier.

After the recent announcements of UFC 314 and UFC 315 Makhachev could possibly make his next defending defense on UFC 316, which is planned for June for the time being. Makhachev finished Renato Moicano on UFC 311 after a final second opponent switch after the withdrawal of Arman Tsarukyan as a result of injury.

Makhachev and Topuria have driven in hooks in recent months while fighting discussions are rising. Topuria says that he is planning to 'make it look easy' against the pound-for-pound Koning Makhachev.

While Makhachev vs. Topuria is said to be in the making, there are different views on the validity behind the fact that the fight takes place. But anyway, a Makhachev vs. Topuria Superfight would be a dream matchup between two superstars in their prime numbers.
