Israel Adesanya predicts Shavkat Rakhmonov will lose his undefeated record at UFC 310… ‘That’s the energy, that Goku spirit’

Ian Machado Garry may be the biggest betting underdog on the UFC 310 main card, but there are a number of quality names siding with 'The Future' this weekend in Las Vegas.

One of those MMA experts picking the Irish-Brazilian sensation is former world middleweight champion Israel Adesanya; with 'The Last Stylebender' revealing that his prediction is based on personal insight from his time training with 'The Future'.

Israel Adesanya predicts Ian Machado will beat Garry Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310

Ian Machado Garry remains a significant underdog to Shavkat Rakhmonov, with a whopping 88% of Tapology Community Picks going in favor of the undefeated Kazakh.

Still, there are plenty of fans and fighters predicting an upset in the UFC 310 co-main event, including former middleweight king Israel Adesanya.

“What I like about this, as a fan of technical ability and experienced fighters, is this [sport] is about to pass,” the two-time 185-pound champion declared via his official YouTube channel.

While Adesanya doesn't put much emphasis on the fact that Garry and Rakhmonov have trained together before, he did reveal that many may underestimate the underdog's wrestling skills.

“Granted, they both trained with each other, it wasn't in depth, but if you walk around with someone often enough, you download information.

'Ian, the second Irish sensation… I wrestled him [before]he's a good wrestler, I got him on my back and had to get him off me, he's smooth and knows how to put things together well.

Adesanya labeled Rakhmonov a “mauler,” someone who can find his way to victory in every facet of the fight game – and yet he still sides with underdog Garry to get it done in Las Vegas.

“I like this fight but I'm going with Ian Machado Garry – I think it will go to a decision but if Shavkat wins he will probably submit Ian but I will put my money on Ian.

“I saw a clip of him talking about Shavkat, where he talked about 'I want to be the guy who takes away that 0' and I like that – that's the energy, that's that Goku spirit that only a few people have. ”

Garry, like Adesanya, has found himself going from gym to gym and traveling the world as he builds up his arsenal of weapons: “I love Ian's journey, the way he travels the world with his family, literally some Goku s***… I So, let's go, Ian!”

Ian Machado Garry admits Rakhmonov 'tapped' him during training at Kill Cliff

A major storyline leading up to the UFC 310 co-main event revolved around Rakhmonov and Garry training together, albeit some time ago, at Kill Cliff in Florida.

Speaking to TalkSport earlier this week, Garry revealed that undefeated 'Nomad' submitted him during those training sessions, but that will have no bearing on the December 7 fight.

“If he retains something like this from training two or three years ago, guess what: do it on Saturday night, do it under bright lights, do it when it matters most.

“Let's see if you can do it. I promise right now, he's not ready for the speed and the beauty yet – he's going to look at me like 'This guy is beautiful, what do I do?!' – he will be speechless.”

The message from the brash, undefeated superstar was simple; training is training, and he's definitely not the same fighter who faced Kill Cliff all those years ago.

“Yes, it is training; Dude, if I told you about all the people I absolutely burned and strangled in training, you'd say I'm already the best fighter in the world.

“We are all learning and practicing in training… For me, if he wants to hold on to something from two or three years ago, hold on to it – but I am a different animal than I was… I will put a hole in it his head on Saturday evening.”
