Israel Adesanya promises to ‘stop counting out’ Paddy Pimblett as they meet backstage at UFC 314

Israel Adesanya met Paddy Pimblett after his big win over UFC 314.

'The Baddy' brutalized Michael Chandler on her way to a TKO victory on the third round in the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, on Saturday evening.

Shortly thereafter, Paddy Pimblett was in an angry backstage confrontation with Colby Covington.

Fortunately it was much more tame when he met the former UFC Middleweight Champion.

Israël Adesanya meets Paddy Pimblett after UFC 314 -victory

Israël Adesanya congratulated the Englishman with a healthy backstage-run-in caught on camera.

'The Last Stylebender' also seemed to admit that he doubted Pimblett in the UFC 314 Co-Main event.

“Congratulations,” Adesanya said while sharing a handshake with the rising lightweight candidate.

He added: “I'm going to stop counting you.”

Pimblett laughed at Adesanya's honesty before hugging UFC Duo and went their own way.

What is the next step for Israel Adesanya?

Israël Adesanya suffered a third loss in February against Nassourdine Imavov in UFC Saudi Arabia.

That fight followed back-to-back defeats in 185 pounds title fights with Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis.

Some fans say that Adesanya has been washed, but the 35-year-old is now not interested in retiring.

A comeback fight is on the map, even if the new -Zeelander doubts his ability to protect another title shot.

“Do I have a title shot for the future? No,” said Adesanya.

'After this fight [with Imavov]I'm just from: 'Do you know what? I don't expect anything. I don't expect to be the champion again. '' '
